12.21.11 - 7th Alarm; Elizabeth, NJ


Elizabeth, NJ Firefighters were called to 819 Newark Ave. for a car fire. Firefighters were battling a car fire within the huge complex, 5 story, 5000x2000 factory that was once home to the Burry Biscuit Company and now houses multiple tenants. The fire spread to the basement. The building has 3 basement levels. The Fire Chief suspended all interior operations when the building was compromised. Cracks and buckling occurred and some parts collapsed. The fire continued to burn out-of-control for over 30 hours requiring massive mutual-aide from around northern New Jersey.
